iGowati Country Hotel is situated in Khorixas in Damaraland. It is the perfect stopover when you are on your way to see the wonders of Damaraland. iGowati means desert dunes. The Lodge is build and decorated in the colors of the Namib Desert.
The roofs are of natural thatching that is so commonly seen in Namibia. Our lodge offers you the amenities of a city hotel but in a rural setting. We offer a friendly and efficient service. The Damara people that work at iGowati are believed to be one of the first ancient groups to settle in Namibia and are of Bantu origin. They are friendly and helpful. Damarland and Khorixas have a slow African rhythm with friendly people and a welcoming environment to all guests visiting our town and lodge.
We have 29 en-suite rooms equipped with telephones, fans and coffee/tea making facilities. Our restaurant offers and ala-carte menu as well as buffets for large groups and our bar are open during the day. At night the Aba's khab traditional group entertains our guests and Mr. Michael Doeseb cultural historian shares some interesting facts about the Damara people and their traditions most evenings.
We have a swimming pool to cool off in and our curio shop have some of the interesting arts of Damaraland and the rest of Namibia. We also offer some necessities to travelers and campers.
Daytrips can be organized to all sights in our area at a reasonable price and includes an air-conditioned vehicle, guide/driver, lunch packs and soft drinks. At the reception we are willing to organize trips and do bookings for you at other lodges.

Activities within the Area
Twyfelfontein Visit Twyfelfontein with its rock engravings, the Burned Mountain, the Petrified Forest and the Organ Pipes. We leave early each morning in an air-conditioned 4 x 4 Landrover and visit all these sites. We arrive back at iGowati in the late afternoon in time for a nap and then dinner. This trip includes lunch packs, soft drinks, guide/driver, vehicle and entrance fees at sites.
The Rock finger
See some of the most spectacular scenery in Namibia and the rock finger a sole remnant of an ancient Plato. Have lunch at the Rock finger lodge and enjoy your drive back at a leisurely pace. For this trip we leave at midmorning and return after lunch. Lunch, soft drinks, driver/guide, vehicle and entrance fees included.
Himba Village Trip
We visit a working himba village farm near Kamanjab. Learn some interesting facts about the Himba people and their way of life. For this trip we leave early in the morning and return late afternoon. Vehicle, guide/driver, lunch packs and soft drinks included. Excluding a food pack each group has to provide for the Himba's.
Skeleton Coast Park Trip
A trip through the desolated area at the Skeleton Coast Park. Visit some of the old shipwrecks and have a picnic lunch on the way. Lunch packs, soft drinks, entrance fees, guide/driver and vehicle included.
White Lady rock
Visit the White Lady rock engraving at Brand Berg near Uis. The Brand Berg is the highest mountain in Namibia. Have lunch at the White Lady restaurant. We leave in the morning and return in the afternoon. Entrance fees, guide/driver, vehicle, lunch and soft drinks are included.
Donkey Cart Trip
This has to be pre-booked to ensure that we are able to arrange it. A trip through the town of Khorixas the way the Damara people travel. We visit the town and have a drink at a local shebeen (bar) taste some of the local specialities like mopanie worm and interact with the Damara people, before returning to iGowati Country Hotel.
